Bob Tarne is Chair of IT and Telecom Specific Interest Group

Tarne, senior consultant of PM Solutions, was elected chair of the information
technology and telecommunications specific interest group (SIG) of the Project
Management Institute (PMI®). In this position, Tarne is responsible for
managing all of the SIG’s board activities and overseeing operations
for this 3000-member organization.
SIGs provide a forum for project managers to share experiences with others managing similar types of projects and facing the same project management challenges and concerns. The position of chair is one of PMI’s most prestigious member leadership positions and is earned when the members of the SIG deem that an individual has made significant contributions to the project management industry.

Throughout his career, he has been responsible for numerous infrastructure, information technology, and outsourcing projects within the telecommunications industry.
Tarne, who resides in Shawnee, Kan., holds an MS in business – information technology management from Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore), a BS in electrical engineering – communications systems from the University of Illinois (Chicago), and a masters certificate in project management from George Washington University (Washington, D.C.).
