
Effective 1 January 2005, Hugh Woodward assumed the role of Managing Editor of PMFORUM and PM World Today, replacing David Curling who is stepping down after creating and leading the development of PMFORUM for 8 years.
Hugh is well qualified to fulfill a pivotal role in “connecting the world of project management”. He is a former leader of the Project Management Institute, an accomplished speaker and educator, and an experienced practitioner.
Hugh served two consecutive terms as the Chair of PMI in 2000 and 2001, and almost six years as a member of the Board of Directors. He has also been active in PMI’s component organizations, serving as President of the Southwest Ohio Chapter from 1993 to 1995, a founding officer of the Manufacturing SIG, and a founding member of the Costa Rica Chapter. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the PMI Educational Foundation.
Hugh has worked on numerous PMI® task forces and committees, addressing such diverse subjects as professional ethics, PMI’s role in education and training, and PMI’s election policies. He led the site study that resulted in the selection of Newtown Square as the home of PMI’s Global Operations Center. And he chaired the task force responsible for initiating the corporate relations program now known as the PMI Corporate Council.
Prior to his appointment as Managing Editor of PMFORUM, Hugh was the President of Macquarie Business Concepts, a consulting firm that enables clients to achieve their strategic goals through the application of effective project portfolio management processes. Previously, he was a program manager for the Procter & Gamble Company, where he spent over 20 years leading teams focused on process optimization in both manufacturing and business services.
Hugh is in frequent demand as a conference speaker, having addressed audiences in Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, France, Hungary, Israel, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He appeared on CBNC’s “Next Wave with Leonard Nimoy” as the subject matter expert for a segment dealing with project management.
Hugh has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Scranton. He was certified as a Project Management Professional in March 1992.
