Ljubljana, Slovenia, is not a big city but it will loom large in the world
of project management April 23-26 when it hosts the 1st ICEC and IPMA Global
Congress on Project Management, a Congress that has already attracted many
of project management's leading thinkers and will feature an outstanding
line-up of plenary speakers.

Jain is the first non-European President of IPMA and founder of Project Management
Associates, India. Jain was one of the key architects in laying the foundation
for India's IT industry in the 70's and 80's, and was honored in 1991 by the former president of India, Dr. S. D. Sharma, with a Fellowship Award for his contribution to IT and management disciplines. Since 1992, he has been deeply involved in strengthening the project management discipline globally. An originator of 'Project Thinking' and 'Project Mindset' concepts,
he is a renowned PM Trainer and Consultant.
Dr.
Brane Semolic has more than 25 years of experience as an expert, researcher,
consultant, manager and project manager, including four year as Counselor
to the Government at the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic
of Slovenia. He is the Dean of the GEA College in Ljubljana, President of
the Project Management Association of Slovenia, and Chairman of the IPMA
R&D Management Board. He was the project or program manager for several national projects in Slovenia, including start-up of the toolmakers technological center -TECOS, toolmakers consortium - KOPAI, and the joint German and Slovene program REVIT - revitalization
of the Slovene regions.
Dr. Kenneth K. Humphreys, PE CCE, served as Executive Director of AACE International (the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) from 1971 until 1992. His professional career also includes over 25 years of industrial and academic experience in the steel and coal industries as a research engineer with the United States Steel Corporation, as an Associate Director of the Coal Research Bureau of the State of West Virginia, and as an Assistant Dean of the College of Mineral and Energy Resources, West Virginia University. Humphreys is author or co-author of over 250 technical papers, books, and patents, including What Every Engineer Should Know about Ethics, Basic Cost, Basic Mathematics and Computer Techniques for Coal Preparation and Mining, and Effective Project Management through Applied Cost and Schedule Control.
Dr.
Robert D. Hisrich is the A. Malachi Mixon III Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies
and Professor at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve
University. He is also a Visiting Professor at The Technical University (Austria),
University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), and University of Krems (Austria). He
is the author of over 200 articles on marketing, entrepreneurship, venture
capital, international business, and international entrepreneurship in such
journals as Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Sloan Management
Review, California Management Review, and the Journal of Small Business Management.
His books include Marketing a New Product: It's Planning, Development, and
Management, The MBA Career: Moving on the Fast Track to Success, and The
Woman Entrepreneur: Starting, Financing, and Managing a Successful New Business.
Other well-known speakers include Dr. Basie Verster, Chairman of ICEC and Head of the Department of Quantity Surveying and Construction Management at the University of the Free State; Michel Thiry, Managing Partner of Valense Ltd; and Dr. Branko Palcic, Professor of Pathology and Physics at the University of British Columbia and Senior Scientist at BC Cancer Agency in Vancouver, Canada.
The 1st ICEC and IPMA Global Congress on Project Management, which will be
held in conjunction with the 5th World Congress on Cost Engineering, Project
Management, and Quantity Surveying, will focus on the theme: “Value
Management – How to Ensure Value for Project Stakeholders”. The
Congress will formally open Monday, April 24, with an opening address by
the mayoresse of Ljubljana, Danica Simšič, and the opening speech
by Janez Božič, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Slovenia.
