GARY BOYLER LEAVES HUGE LEGACY AT PMI

Gary Boyler, currently PMI's Director of Brand Management, will be leaving the Institute this week after serving almost five years as Director of Communication and Information and Director of Brand Management. Boyler joined PMI in August 2001 following a nationwide search. He was previously Vice President of Brand Management for Meeting Professionals International.

Boyler has overseen huge change at PMI and leaves a legacy of accomplishment. PMI's publications have been upgraded significantly under his stewardship and have now earned 14 separate awards from such organizations as the Society of National Association Publications and the American Society of Business Publication Editors. A publishing professional recently called PMI's publications "worthy of newsstand".

The change in PMI's Global Congresses has been no less breathtaking, evolving from a single annual event, called the PMI Seminars/Symposium, to four Global Congresses hosted regionally in Asia Pacific, Europe Middle East and Africa, North America, and Latin America. This year, for example, Global Congresses are scheduled in Bangkok, Thailand; Madrid, Spain; Seattle, Washington, USA; and Santiago, Chile.

More recently, Boyler has been responsible for Brand Management, bringing to PMI a well-defined branding process and advocacy program, and transitioning the Public Relations Department from a single person to a structured organization.

When asked what he will remember about PMI, Boyler described it as a unique experience participating in the incredible growth and change in just five years. He came to PMI when it was housed in a single building at Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. PMI has not only doubled the size of that facility, but has also established offices in Brussels, Singapore, Beijing, and Washington DC.

Thank you, Gary, for your contribution to project management these past five years. We at pmforum.org wish you all the best as you move on!
